If you happen to be driving Highway 287 between the little towns of Three Forks and Townsend, Montana, make sure to check out the herd of horses grazing on the west side of the highway.
Montana artist Jim Dolan created the stunning group and donated the sculpture to all of us. Pretty generous gift, don’t you think?
Love, love, love this herd. Plus, it took me a long time to figure out that they weren’t living horses when I saw them for the first time. Living as opposed to real. They are very real.
Excellent point. Very philosophical.
Amazing – what a great idea.
Peoples’ genius is just amazing, isn’t it?
Love the sculptures. And did you know that Highway 287 begins (or ends, depending on how you look at it) here in Texas? I believe it goes all the way to Glacier NP. I would love to make that trip one day, from end to end.
What a great trip that would be! I’ll meet you in the middle.
Anytime, Cindy, anytime. I’m always ready for a road trip, and the middle would be Boulder, CO, maybe? I’m game!
Wild, wild horses couldn’t drag me away!
🙂
That’s neat! They looked real in the first photo, albeit a little skinny.
They do look a little gaunt, don’t they? From the highway they look even more real.
